well....really it all depends on your play style,if you just want to steam roll through necro is the most powerful prof for pve,ele is about the same as necro but does different things, other professions cant even be compared to those two in pve..but others can be much more fun depending on how you like to play.
Paragon is another good option if your going to do hard mode, otherwise there just a wasted slot usually since 100+ armor isnt that important in nm.

Personally I´d say warrior. - chose whichever you think look nice, and have some nice/fun skills. If you intend to play high end pve/HM/dungeons/UW/FoW etc.. I would say Ele or Monk, since they are the most wanted class.. These places Warriors are not much welcome:/

I played an ele. It's great for dmg dealing, and ranged attack. Plus they have really pretty armor) for the girls anyways)
If you prefer up close and personal dmg i'd go dervish, or sin. I like warrior too, but eh sins and dervish, in my somewhat limited melee experience, offer more of a challenge in terms of using skills etc.
hope that helps Personally i like the idea of getting them all throught...if only i had the time

I personally say Necromancer. It is the most versatile type of caster. It can use all caster skills efficiently if you bring a Minion Master.
Healer, Degen, life steal (aka armor ignoring), "denial" (damage/prevent of doing actions), conditioning. Necromancer can do it all (most within it's own attributes! Just not as good as other professions for things like healing).

Since I don't know ANYTHING about you - I'll make a VERY informed decision and suggest you make a ritualist.
Why?
Because "I" love it!
Simple.
Armor?
Pretty much everything looks godly for the ritualist.
Simple.

I'd say Necro or Warrior, warrior because it would be easier to lead your team into battle becuase of the armor, and necro because its just really fun to play and is versitile

Honestly an ele does more damage the necro, heals better, and is really more versitile since it has 4 full attribute lines instead of 3,all being useful where necro only has two good ones(death and curses) both profs are great, but thanks to ether renewal eles can play like there basically any caster prof, and eles just look better!
necros=better energy management eles=more versitile
But really every one likes different professions for different reasons.
Eles are also more accepted and used in high-end areas, making them a good choice if your only making one pve.

It depends... are you only going to be doing pve, or do u want to use that character in pvp eventually. Do you want to play party support, damage, or shutdown.
If you want to primarily party support, then Ritualist, Paragon or Monk.
If you want damage as ur primary then warrior, dervish assassin, or ele.
If you want to run shutdown then Ranger, Mesmer, or Necromancer.
However, these are not the only options. Each option can change a bit depending on whats needed. For example dervish can run ebon dust aura spear to shutdown the enemies melee, or the necro can go N/Rt and heal the party like no tomorrow.
Finally it depends on what you want to do. If ur doing Hard Mode, then running an Ele as pure damage is going to be disappointing as they have higher armor. + with the current meta hero hench builds (aka discord way & sab), you can basically c-space and afk ur way to victory.
To decide, think what you want to do. Then go check out the armor pages on guild wiki, and work out which class's armor sets you like more. Then give it a shot. If you dont like it, then its not that difficult to reroll a new char that you think you may like.

Ranger or Monk, because they're useful in PvE and PvP in most scenarios. There's always Mesmer if you want to take it to PvP though. If you're going purely PvE I suggest Warrior or Necromancer.

I think Tyla hit it square on. Pure PvE, Warrior and Necro are probably the two strongest to run. If you see yourself dabbling in PvP as well, it'd be good to get practicing interrupts or protecting your party.
As for armor, I only run male characters so I probably shouldn't be the one to ask.

The best armor has the highest AR and you can customize it with Insignias the way you like. If you want something easy, go for Warrior, if you want pure power at the cost of being a hard class to master, go Necromancer with Mesmer preferably (my favorite class, ever) so you can steamroll any caster/monk/Rit ever and easily complete missions and quests quickly.
